In a shocking turn of events, Ambati Rayudu, the star batter of Chennai Super Kings, has announced retirement from the Indian Premier League. He has shared the news on his official Twitter account, mere hours away from appearing in the grand finale of the 2023 season against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28.

During his incredible career in the IPL, the 37-year-old won the trophy for five times as a player, including three for Mumbai Indians and two for Chennai Super Kings. Later tonight, Rayudu has the chance to win the championship for the sixth time to end his career on a high note.

His retirement tweet read, “2 great teams mi nd csk,204 matches,14 seasons,11 playoffs,8 finals,5 trophies.hopefully 6th tonight. It’s been quite a journey.I have decided that tonight’s final is going to be my last game in the Ipl.i truly hav enjoyed playing this great tournament.Thank u all. No u turn.”

Moreover, the Guntur-born cricketer had taken retirement from the IPL last year on Twitter too, but he deleted his tweet shortly afterwards, as the CSK management persuaded him to continue playing for them in the tournament. But this time around, he has categorically mentioned that there is going to be no “U Turn” on his decision to retire.
