Former India captain and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has spoken for the first time since reports of him getting replaced as the board’s President have come out. As it is almost confirmed that Ganguly will be succeeded by Roger Binny at the helm, the former India captain has accepted his fate and is ready to move on.

Ganguly has also talked about how this experience of serving as the President of the world’s richest cricket board has been filled with passionate fans. He also said that representing India for 15 years at the highest level was best. Ganguly was also practical in accepting that nothing lasts forever.

"I was the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal for five years. I have been president of BCCI for three years. After all these terms, you have to leave and go. As an administrator, you have to contribute a lot and make things better for the team. Me being a player, who was around for a long time, understood it. I enjoyed my time as an administrator thoroughly. You cannot play forever, and you cannot remain in administration forever," said Ganguly at an event.

When the former cricketer was asked to draw a comparison between his time as a cricketer and as an administrator, Ganguly said that he found playing on the field more challenging as it is real-time. He also shed light on the growth of Indian cricket in the past three years. Ganguly then said that he will go on to do something else now as he won’t be serving as BCCI’s President. “I will go on to do something else now. 15 years of my cricketing career were the best,” he said.

It’s worth mentioning that Ganguly is tipped to be India's representative for the 16-member International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Chairman's post, elections for which are slated to be held this November.
