Former Indian all-rounder and Abhishek Sharma’s mentor Yuvraj Singh took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express his displeasure over the SRH opener’s bad shot selection which cost him his wicket against Chennai Super Kings on Friday. However, he had completed his job by then and eventually, he was adjudged as the player of the match for his eventful knock.
Chasing a modest total of 166 on a batting-friendly Uppal pitch, SRH got off to a blazing start in the powerplay itself, courtesy of Abhishek Sharma’s explosive knock of 37 runs in 12 balls which included a 27 runs hammering off Mukesh Choudhary in the 2nd over. Although, the Punjab all-rounder couldn’t go long as he was caught at deep backward point by Ravindra Jadeja.
After receiving the Player of the Match award, Abhishek Sharma expressed his gratitude and tribute to Yuvraj Singh for helping him in the early stages of his career. “Big scores matter, but I went with the flow today. Hopefully, I will get out last next time. It is all the hard work I have put in before this. Special thanks to my dad, Yuvi Paaji, and Brian Lara,” he said.
Responding to the love and gratitude by Abhishek, Yuvraj took to Twitter and said he was right behind the youngster. Although, he further clarified that wasn’t too pleased with the shot selection of Abhishek to get out. He wrote, “I’m right behind you boy…well played again- but bad shot to get out on.” He also posted a hilarious GIF with the tweet.
