On Tuesday, March 19, Yuvraj Singh was at his vintage best with the bat in hand, during the final of the Legends Cricket Trophy (LCT) 2024. However, the fifty from the New York Superstar Strikers captain wasn’t enough to chase down the target of 180 runs, which meant that the Rajasthan Kings won the LCT final by 20 runs.

At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Yuvraj Singh won the toss in the LCT final and decided to put the opposition into bat first. The New York Superstar Strikers bowler, Jerome Taylor, picked up the early wicket of the Rajasthan Kings captain, Robin Uthappa, for just 16 runs, but then, Hamilton Masakadza and Ashley Nurse stitched together a second wicket stand of 116 runs while completing their respectively.

Due to the highly impressive partnership for the second wicket, the Rajasthan Kings scored 179/4 in their allotted 15 overs.

In pursuit of the 180-run target, Chadwick Walton and Alviro Petersen had a slow start, putting the New York Superstar Strikers firmly on the back foot. After both the openers lost their wickets in quick succession, Yuvraj Singh and Chamara Kapugedera provided the much-needed impetus to their batting innings.

Asela Gunaratne also put together a quick-fire innings, but it was the Yuvraj Singh show at the other end with the bat, keeping the New York Superstar Strikers in the LCT 2024 final. But ultimately, the Rajasthan Kings had too much for Yuvraj Singh to chase down, who was dismissed in the final over after scoring 54 off 22, with four fours and five sixes.

The New York Superstar Strikers innings finished at 159/6 in their allotted 15 overs, 20 runs shy of the total set by the Rajasthan Kings.
