Yuzvendra Chahal, the premier leg-spinner in Indian cricket, is currently on a much-deserved break from the sport, after a gruelling season of the IPL 2023, just a couple of months ago. The 32-year-old player, who is a proven match-winner for Team India, has been spotted in various sporting and non-sporting events, during his off time.

In the recent past, the Rajasthan Royals player made an announcement about joining the Global Chess League team called SG Alpine Warriors. GCL has been billed as the only pro sports league in the world with both men and women featuring in the same team.

To take this partnership forward, Yuzevendra Chahal, who has represented India internationally in chess, met one of the members of the GCL commentary panel, Jesse February, who is a Woman International Master.

The South African chess prodigy took to Twitter to share a beautiful picture of herself meeting with a fellow chess aficionado from India. Jesse February, a two-time South African women’s chess champion and a one-time African women’s chess champion, captioned her tweet, "Finally met @yuzi_chahal !"

Notably, GCL, the first and largest official chess franchise league in the world, was won by Triveni Continental Kings, who defeated upGrad Mumba Masters in the final, held on July 2, Sunday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal has been selected in the Indian ODI and T20I squad for the tour of West Indies. Team India will be playing three 50-over matches, followed up by five 20-over matches in the Caribbean. The first match of the ODI series is scheduled to begin at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on July 27.
