India's reliable leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is set to participate in county cricket following his snub from the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 squad. Notably, on Tuesday, September 6, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad for the 2023 World Cup, and while many promising names succeeded to secure their spot, Chahal's name was nowhere to be found.

Earlier, the Times of India had reported that Chahal will debut for Kent in his county cricket debut. The TOI quoted a BCCI source as saying, "The Kent County Cricket Club will make an announcement regarding this development soon. Chahal will play three-four games with them."

The source further added that the Indian governing body has issued a NOC to the 33-year-old player. As per the source, "The BCCI has issued NOC to him to play County cricket. Should he be a requirement to the Indian team, Chahal will join the national squad immediately."

Putting a rest to all the speculations, Kent Cricket took to Twitter and confirmed signing the Indian leg spinner.

Speaking on the same, Chahal expressed his gratitude to Brindon Bagirathan, who is the CEO of Zestige Private Healthcare and has reportedly helped Chahal secure his place in county cricket. The spinner said, " Rahul Dravid Sir speaks so highly of his time in County cricket. I really wanted to play. I cannot explain how grateful I am of my good friend Brindon who helped me in such short notice."
