It was a dream moment for all the hockey lovers in India. After 49 long years, Indian men’s hockey team entered the semi-final at Tokyo Olympics. Although they couldn’t enter the final of the event after a hard-fought game, they managed to clinch the bronze medal at the mega sporting event.
The Indian team clinched a bronze, defeating Germany 5-4 for the first Olympic medal in 41 years. The last podium finish came in 1980 when India won its eighth gold at the Games. Simranjeet Singh scored twice, while Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh were the other goal-getters for the World No. 3 ranked team.
Although the side settled for a bronze at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020, their celebration was what captured the eyeballs of millions of fans awaiting a medal.
