Head coach of the IPL franchise Punjab Kings, Anil Kumble, has showered praises on Tamil Nadu cricketer Shahrukh Khan who will be wearing their colours in the 14th edition of the T20 tournament. Kumble even compared the hard-hitting batsman to a T20 great Kieron Pollard. Notably, the West Indies skipper, who plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL, recently smashed six sixes in an over in a T20I against Sri Lanka.

"He (Shahrukh) reminds me a bit of Pollard actually. When I was with Mumbai Indians, Pollard in the nets was dangerous. I used to bowl a bit (in the nets), and the first thing I used to bowl a bit (in the nets), and the first thing I used to tell him was don't hit straight," Kumble said in a video posted on Punjab Kings' social media handle.

"Here I'm not even trying. I'm a lot older now, and the body doesn't take the bowling anymore. So, I'm not going to bowl at Shahrukh for sure," he added.

Uncapped Indian player Shahrukh was roped in by Punjab Kings in the 2021 IPL auction in February. Although he had set his base price at INR 20 lakh, he was snapped at a whopping 5.25 crore with the likes of Delhi Capitals and RCB all bidding for him. The team will play their first match against Rajasthan Royals on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
