Royal London Cup and Iyer's stint
Royal London Cup is a yearly tournament held among English county cricket clubs. Therefore, Shreyas Iyer will not be available from July 22 till August 19 if Lancashire make it to final. In case the team fails to clear group stage, the Mumbaikar's absence will reduce by a week. However, a defeat in knockout stages will see Shreyas end his campaign in England a day before Independence Day.
All the matches will be played in 50-over format with 18 teams competing for the trophy. Since its inauguration in 2014, the tournament has seen different winners for each of the six editions. The tournament was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Lancashire are yet to make it to final, let alone winning the tournament. Surrey have featured in most finals as they came close to lifting trophy in 2015, 2016, and 2017, but failed on all occasions.
