Nadal and Federer lost their doubles fixture against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock 4-6, 7-6(2), 11-9.
Federer and Nadal will face Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe in Doubles action at the Laver Cup.
The Laver Cup will be Roger Federer’s last tournament before retiring.
Rafael Nadal also expressed his desire to share the court alongside his biggest rival in the history of the sport.
According to reports, Federer may give the prestigious tournament a miss as he is still not completely fit to play.
Alternates can participate in the competition when a teammate is injured or withdraws from the tournament.
The Big Four will be led by tennis legend Bjorn Borg.
The 2022 edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place from 23 September to 25 September.
Both the players last paired up in their first and only doubles match at the inaugural edition of the event in Prague in 2017.
