Notably, cricket is one of the five new sports that are being introduced in the 2028 Oympics. The other four sports are squash, flag football, baseball/softball, and lacrosse.
The 34-year-old is currently playing at the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. In the three matches, Kohli has finished with the scores of 85 (off 116 balls vs Australia), 55 (off 56 vs Afghanistan), and 16 (off 18 against Pakistan).
The decision to included five sports was taken by the 141st Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Apart from cricket, baseball, softball, flag football, and squash are also included in the 2008 Olympic Games.
Cricket was part of the Olympics, in Paris in 1900, when England and France played one match for the gold medal.
It is to be noted that cricket is one of the nine sports up for participation in Los Angeles edition of the Olympics.
The game was last played in 1900, where the gold medal match took place between Britain and France.
The International Olympic Committee and Los Angeles 2028 both advised the ICC that the format should be one in which a world championship is held.
Cricket was part of the Summer Games only once before at Paris 1900.
