Notably, no Indian has reached the last four stage of the Chess World Cup, except Anand, who won the first two editions of the tournament in 2000 and 2002.
The event started at 2 PM and went until 3.49 PM, during which Anand displayed his extraordinary talent to win all of them.
Anand remained India’s top-ranked player since January 1997, after he made it to the World’s top 10 since 1991.
It is to be noted that Anand has been India’s No. 1 ranked player since January 1987 after he entered the Top 10 in July 1991 in the world rankings.
