The inaugural champions of the IPL, Rajasthan Royals, haven’t recreated a winning campaign since 2008. Under the captaincy of Sanju Samson, RR came close in the IPL 2022 finals but saw the Gujarat Titans register a seven-wicket win. Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal picked up 21 wickets in 14 games and was Rajasthan’s leading wicket-taker. Hence the Royals will hope that Chahal brings this performance in the 2024 season as well.

R Ashwin
Continuing in the spin attack, Ravichandran Ashwin will also be a vital cog for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. In 2023, the Tamil Nadu off-spinner had a decent season with a tally of 14 wickets in 13 matches at a 26.29 average and a 7.51 economy. Ashwin also chipped in with the bat by scoring 67 runs with a highest score of 30 at a 131.37 strike rate.

Avesh Khan
Brought into the side as part of a direct trade for top-order batter Devdutt Paddikal, Avesh Khan will be an important member of Rajasthan’s pace attack, especially after the season-ending surgery for Prashidh Krishna. In an injury-riddled 2023, Khan played nine matches and picked up eight wickets. But since then, the 28-year-old was picked up to play for India against South Africa where picked up six wickets in three matches while continuing this form against England A.

Trent Boult
New Zealand’s experienced speedster, Trent Boult, continued to run through opposition batters in the powerplay. Boult picked up 13 wickets in 10 games at an average of 24.00 and an 8.21 economy. The Blackcaps’ star will lead Royal’s fast bowling attack and hope to groom the inexperienced pacers.

Nandre Burger
Last but not least, young South African fast bowler Nandre Burger will hope to make a massive impact in his debut IPL season. Burger impressed one and all with a blistering debut against India in the T20Is, ODIs and Tests where he picked up 17 wickets in nine matches. Then in the SA20 2024, Burger scalped 11 wickets in 10 innings, with his best performance coming against Paarl Royals in Eliminator, where he grabbed 3 scalps and got his franchise a place in Qualifier-2.
