Recently outside linebacker Bradley Chubb has reached an agreement with the Miami Dolphins on a five-year, $110 million extension. The deal with incentives can take his deal to $111.25 million as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. With his remaining salary from his rookie deal, Chubb’s total contract is just under $119 million through 2027.

The Broncos traded Chubb to Miami on Tuesday for a package comprising the 2023 first-round pick that Miami acquired from the San Francisco 49ers last year. The Dolphins also sent running back Chase Edmonds and a 2024 fourth-round pick to the Broncos for a 2025 fifth-round selection.

The 26-year-old was in the final year of his rookie contract which he signed in 2018. When GM Chris Grier acquired Chubb he clearly stated that the Dolphins did not trade a first-round pick for a one-year rental and pass rusher will be a long-term part of the team.

Throughout his career, Chubb has been dealing with injuries. He has missed 24 out of 49 possible games before 2022, because of a torn ACL and a bone spur in his ankle. Grier also expressed that Miami did extensive research into his injury history and work ethic and determined that he was the perfect player.

Talking about Bradley Chubb’s acquisition, Grier said, “When you do a deal like that for a player, you always would like to — from our perspective when we do business — we would like to have something done, and we anticipate having something finished up here shortly.”

Bradley Chubb has recorded 170 career tackles (107 solo), 26.0 sacks, one interception, five passes defended, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Chubb got a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 and was also part of the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2018. His 5.5 sacks in eight games this season are tied for 13th in the NFL. He originally entered the league as the fifth overall pick by Denver in the 2018 NFL Draft.
