The wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st international century is getting longer and longer. Cricket fans across the globe are eagerly waiting for the Indian stalwart to break the century-less streak which has now been going for more than two years. Kohli’s elongated search for the 71st century has forced arch-rivals Pakistan fans to also pray for the cricketer.
Islamabad United’s strategy manager Hassan Cheema has revealed the talks around Kohli’s century drought in the neighboring country. Cheema posted a tweet thread to reveal that he found it too tough to ignore the talks and prayers going on in Pakistan for Virat Kohli’s century. He also talked about how someone of Virat Kohli’s stature is also not being spared by ‘weird board’ and ‘demanding fans’.

Find it fascinating that everyone I talk to rn, from our guys to Pakistan team guys in other teams, everyone’s hoping (& in some cases PRAYING) for Kohli to get a (Hundred points symbol). “Sorta restores my faith in humanity. But I can also get why they’d have more empathy for him than us normal ppl. If anyone can relate to a board being weird & fans being demanding, it’s them guys. Several times in the past week I’ve heard ‘laug to Kohli tak ko nahi bakhshte’, he added.
“Although now that I think about it, why wouldn’t they love and appreciate him. They’re cricket fans first and foremost after all. The fact that it surprised me is a reminder of how much brain poisoning I have from Twitter and traditional media over these things,” Cheema concluded.

Kohli last scored a century in 2019 against Bangladesh
Well, such long has been the wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st century that everyone now just wants him to score one. In every match he takes part in, people are expecting him to get a hundred. He came close to getting one three times in South Africa but the same old story of “so close yet so far” continued. In the last Test at Cape Town, Kohli fell short of partners and 21 runs of his century. After that in the first and third ODI, he crossed half-century twice but again fell short. Now all hopes will be pinned on the West Indies series starting from 6 February.
