Players of Burnley FC received a guard of honour from Cardiff City players ahead of their match today (May 8) at the Turf Moor. Burnley had an incredible season in the EFL as they are all set to win their second EFL title. The Clarets might become the first team to cross 100 points in a single league season after Leicester City in 2014, if they win today’s encounter against Cardiff.
Burnley players walked through the guard of honour as the Cardiff players applauded from the sides. Team Manager Vincent Kompany was also present with the Burnley side. Kompany-managed side will be back in the Premier League after they were relegated in the 2021-22 season. Manager Vincent Kompany has been a great guiding force for the club and also recently extended his contract for further five years. Vincent was a centre-back during his eleven seasons with Manchester City, eight of which he served as captain to later become as one of the best center-backs in the league. Additionally, he spent 15 years playing for Belgium's national team, seven of those as captain.
Burnley will be presented with the English Football League (EFL) Championship Trophy after their last home game against Cardiff City at the Turf Moor.
