Australia batter Steve Smith scored his 32nd Test ton on the second day of the second Ashes 2023 Test at Lord’s. The 34-year-old reached the milestone in 168 deliveries and hit a boundary off James Anderson to mark another century. Earlier on day one of the second Test, Smith became the fastest player to hit 9000 runs (in terms of matches) in the longest format of the game.
Not only this, but the first day of the second Test also saw Smith achieving another feat, as he became the ninth Australian to hit 15000 runs in international cricket. Among the 41 players who have crossed the mark of 15000 runs, Smith has the second-best average of 49.67, and is only behind Virat Kohli, averaging 53.44.

The Australian batter started off the day with 85 with Australia five down, and his partners Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc went down in the first 20 minutes in the day. It was then Smith took the control in his hands and decided to get a move before he ran out of partners. The numbers state that Smith's 32nd Test century is his 12th against England and eighth in the country. Apart from this, it is Smith's second hundred at the Lord's. Shouldering on his century, Australia ended their innings at 416 all out, and by lunch, the English team scored 13 from four overs without any loss.
