India surpassed New Zealand in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham for a brief while on Sunday. India currently find themselves at the fifth position on the table. Apart from 17 gold medals, India has bagged 13 silver and 19 bronze which has taken their overall medal haul to 49. New Zealand, by contrast, have 18 gold medals 12 silver and 17 bronze medals implying a total of 47 medals and a fifth ranking.
However, for a brief while, India's 17 golds helped them overtake New Zealand who had 17 too before the Kiwis added another gold to their tally.
Even though the final rankings are subject to change, with India expecting a few more gold medals, India would be hoping to improve their overall position in the table.
