The Indian cricket team Head Coach Gautam Gambhir was seen to be distributing cold drinks to the spectators during the test match between India and Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. The conditions were unfavourable to the people as they had to face extreme heat and the conditions were too dry for the sun to settle down. However, Gautam Gambhir did a heartwarming gesture for the Indian fans by helping them battle the hot conditions. The video regarding the distribution of cold drinks had surfaced online and it won hearts as people appreciated Gautam Gambhir for helping the Indian fans in adverse conditions.
India were dominant in both days of the test match and there is a very high possibility that the game could be winded up within day 3. Afghanistan couldn’t get a hold of the game in any session as the hosts were as dominant with the ball as they were with the bat. Manav Suthar, the debutant picked up 3 wickets in the second innings and he was well complemented by Prasidh Krishna as well at the other end. Afghanistan trail by a truckload of runs and they will have to pull the rabbit out of the hat, to come back into the game.
India tighten their grip over Afghanistan in New Chandigarh
The conditions at New Chandigarh have been as testing as ever with extreme heat and dryness in the air. The players themselves were struggling to battle through the day and the frequent drinks breaks would have just lightened the situation for them.
The gesture by Gautam Gambhir was a timely one as usually the prices of beverages inside stadiums are quite high for the local people. To survive the heat in 90 overs of play for the Indian fans, Gautam Gambhir must have helped the locals to just get a breather in the extremely hot weather.
India had a powerful end to their first innings with the help of Washington Sundar and the late blitz from India’s tail-end batters. Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill played some extraordinary knocks at the start of the day and put India in a comfortable position before being dismissed. Washington Sundar scored a fine half-century and was supported with the likes of Manav Suthar and Mohammed Siraj at the back end.
After putting Afghanistan to bat in the second innings, Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar wreaked havoc in the Afghanistan batting unit. Having lost half their side for just 113 runs, India will be cruising towards yet another victory over Afghanistan in home conditions and this could help them in their 2025-26 WTC cycle.
