There are catches, and then there are catches that make you stop whatever you are doing and watch the replay again. Glenn Phillips produced exactly one such moment during the Caribbean Premier League 2026 clash between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders.
The Knight Riders were chasing a challenging 186-run target against the Amazon Warriors, and as has so often been the case, Sunil Narine came out with intent. The explosive all-rounder got off to a flying start and looked determined to make the most of the powerplay.
But then came Glenn Phillips.
A short-of-a-length delivery was bowled outside Narine’s hitting zone, and the left-hander went for his trademark pull, looking to clear the deep midwicket boundary. It seemed like the ball had enough on it to sail over the fielder.
Except, there was Phillips.
Standing close to the boundary rope, Phillips timed his jump to perfection. He stretched out one hand, reached for the ball and somehow managed to hold on. Just one hand. Right at the boundary.
For a moment, it was difficult to believe what had just happened.
Phillips has built a reputation as one of the best fielders in world cricket, but even by his incredibly high standards, this was something special. The athleticism, the awareness and, most importantly, the sheer strength in that one-handed grab made it an absolute stunner.
Narine, who had started the chase in typical fashion, had to walk back. Phillips, meanwhile, had once again reminded everyone why he is regarded as one of the most spectacular fielders in T20 cricket.
These are the moments that make T20 cricket so special. A batter can be looking in complete control, a six can seem almost certain, and then one extraordinary piece of fielding can change everything in a matter of seconds.
And honestly, this Glenn Phillips catch deserves to be replayed over and over again. It could very well go down as one of the best catches we see in T20 cricket.
