Mercedes junior driver Frederik Vesti is all set to make his F1 debut at the post-season Abu Dhabi test. The Petronas-led side confirmed the news of Vesti taking the wheels of Lewis Hamilton’s W13 on a rookie day at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The Dane, who enrolled to Mercedes young driver programme prior to the 2021 season, finished fourth at FIA Formula 3 Championship, graduating to Formula 2. The young 20-year-old took his maiden F2 win at the Baku Sprint Race and has had four podium finishes in the year so far.
The Danish driver took to social media stating it as “a childhood dream coming true” moment for him. “On the 22. of November I will complete my first ever running in a @MercedesAMGF1 formula 1 car at the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi!”.
The post season test will take place on November 22-23 following the F1 2022 finale at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
