As the much-awaited Legends League Cricket get set to kick-off from January 20 onwards in Oman, there have been speculations around the participation of many veteran cricketers. There were reports that Sachin Tendulkar will be a part of India Maharajas as his name was also included in the promo of the tournament which featured the ambassador of the league, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
However, Tendulkar's management company recently denied all the rumours. While requesting the tournament organizers to refrain from misleading the cricket fans, they stated that Master Blaster won't be a part of the league.
"The news about @sachin_rt’s participation in ‘Legends League Cricket’ is not true. The organisers should refrain from misleading cricket fans and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan," official spokesperson of SRT Sports Management Pvt. Ltd stated.
As of now, the following players are likely to represent India Maharajas:
Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, S. Badrinath, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Naman Ojha, Manpreet Gony, Hemang Badani, Venugopal Rao, Munaf Patel, Sanjay Bangar, Nayan Mongia, Amit Bhandari, Mohammad Kaif and Stuart Binny.
Legends League Cricket to be played from Jan 20 to Jan 29
The tournament will notably feature three teams - India Maharajas, Asia Lions and World Giants. Although there is no information yet on the players taking part from rest of world, it has been revealed that the following retired cricketers from Asia will be seen in the tournament: Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Azhar Mahmood, Upul Tharanga, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammed Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Mohammed Yousuf, Umar Gul and Asghar Afghan.
