West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers has taken the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) i.e. IPL 2023 by storm. Mayers has already scored two half-centuries in two matches for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). While Mayers scored a 38-ball 73 against Delhi Capitals (DC) and helped his team post a hefty total on the board, the southpaw looked equally confident in the chase against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
As LSG started their chase of 218, Mayers took the CSK bowlers to the cleaners, scoring a half-century in just 21 balls. However, he perished on the very next delivery he faced. Moeen Ali got the best of the West Indian. Nevertheless, Mayers as impressed everyone with his scintillating batting at IPL 2023 so far.
While fans can’t stop praising the batter for his ruthless batting, former CSK player, Suresh Raina has claimed that Mayers is the new Chris Gayle in IPL. As Mayers was thrashing the CSK bowlers all around the park on Monday, Raina reckoned Mayers looks like The Universe Boss. “Kyle Mayers looks like new Chris Gayle in IPL,” reckoned Raina on air.
A few fans also found similarities between Gayle and Mayers. While some called him Junior Gayle, some called him Gayle in making.
