On Instagram, he shared a photo of himself and De Gea, but he neglected to delete the notes from his PR manager before publishing. It said, "Caption ideas: You were here for my breakthrough, good luck with your next step brother @d_degeaofficial."
Fans and media outlets soon picked up on the embarrassing mistake and ridiculed Rashford for his lack of genuineness. Rashford removed the "Caption ideas" part before re-posting the post. Additionally, he turned off comments on his post, something he hadn't done in more than two years.
Footballers have already been exposed for posting pre-written statements on social media, as was the case with Rashford's error. Players like Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, and Cesc Fabregas have already been discovered utilising hashtags or generic descriptions that were intended for their PR departments.
Some of De Gea's former teammates, such as Juan Mata and Bruno Fernandes, who complimented him for his accomplishments and loyalty, have expressed grief at his departure from Manchester United.
