England's vintage fast bowler James Anderson became the first pace bowler to reach the 700 Test wickets mark. Anderson reached the landmark in the fifth and final Test against India at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. The 41-year-old registered his name into the club as he dismissed India’s Kuldeep Yadav on the third day of the Test match. Anderson now sits at the third spot on the list of the bowlers with the most Test wickets, behind Sri Lanka great Muttiah Muralitharan and Australian bowling wizard, late Shane Warne.
Anderson’s first wicket came against Zimbabwe at Lord’s in May 2003, as he dismissed opener Mark Vermuelen in his third over. Interestingly, Anderson’s highest number of Test wickets came against India at 149. As Anderson reached the feat, fans took to X to laud the bowler. Here’s how fans reacted:
In India’s first innings, Anderson picked a total of two wickets, including Kuldeep Yadav and Shubman Gill.
