Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir recently opened up on his plans on getting a British citizenship and participating in IPL. He would be eligible to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) if he acquires British citizenship. Here are 5 teams who could target Amir to boost their bowling strength:

1. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals should go for Amir as he can boost their bowling department with his vast experience. He will be a handy addition to the team and he can prove to be a valuable asset for Sanju Samson. A genuine wicket-taker, Amir will be a handy prospect for any team with his wide variety of skills. Amir has developed his skills in the shortest format of the game by plying his trade across various T20 leagues all over the world. His tall stature of 6 ft 2 inches helps him extract extra bounce and his wicket taking ability could help Rajasthan eliminate the flaws in their bowling department.

2. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have tried out many overseas pacers over the years like Chris Jordan, Hardus Viljoen, Riley Meredith, Jhye Richardson but none has been able to deliver the goods consistently for them. Punjab Kings should target Amir as he would be a great addition to their side and he will form a fearsome bowling attack alongside Mohammed Shami. Known for his disciplined bowling and pinpoint yorkers, Amir could be the answer to Punjab's long-standing problem of a trustworthy overseas pacer, who can be relied on in crunch situations.

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore have struggled to find a genuine wicket-taker ever since Michael Starc left. Even though RCB were in impressive form in the early stages of IPL 2021 with Harshal Patel leading the wicket-taking tally with 17 wickets from 7 matches. However, Mohammad Amir could still come in and strengthen their bowling attack to a great extent. Kohli has himself struggled against the Pakistan speedster on many occasions before. Thus, he will know about Amir's bowling qualities.

4. Chennai Super Kings

CSK could be the ideal team for Mohammad Amir to play in. Given MS Dhoni's ability to improve the bowler by guiding and mentoring him, Amir could be a replacement for the ageing Dwayne Bravo. Also, Amir's pace combined with unerring accuracy would make him the go-to bowler for MS Dhoni in the Chennai squad. Amir has played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is, claiming 259 wickets across formats. He has often provided his side with crucial breakthroughs and will be a useful asset for the Yellow Army.

5. Mumbai Indians

Even though the defending champions already have a very strong bowling attack, there is room for improvement always. A pace attack consisting of Mohammad Amir, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult would strike fear in the heart of opposition and the trio will be a handful to deal with for all the teams. Amir's signing would give Rohit Sharma a wicket-taking bowling option in the middle overs, which would allow Bumrah's overs to be preserved for the death.
