Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are yet to win an Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy despite making the final on three occasions in their illustrious history in the tournament. The batting lineup has been a major strength of RCB throughout its existence, helmed by their superstar Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise since its inaugural year in 2008.
In this article, SportsTiger picks the five top batters in the IPL 2025 squad of RCB.
List of 5 top batters in RCB’s IPL 2025 squad
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli, 36, is the only batter in the history of the IPL to score more than 8000 runs along with eight hundreds, but it hasn’t helped him clinch the coveted IPL trophy even once in his career. The right-hander is arguably the greatest batter of his generation, and he will be looking to contribute to the title-winning cause for RCB at least once before he hangs up his boots.
Phil Salt
England international Phil Salt is a powerful striker of the cricket ball in the limited overs formats at the top of the order, and he played a key role for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their IPL winning season last year. After accomplishing great things with KKR, the 28-year-old will be looking to replicate his heroics with the bat for RCB, which could go a long way for them in winning the coveted trophy for the first-time.
Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal, 24, began his IPL career with RCB in 2020, and before his release at the conclusion of the 2021 season, the left-hander managed to score 400 runs in each of the aforementioned campaigns. Following that, the left-hander was a part of RR for two years before having a forgettable season with LSG last year, but now, he will be looking to rekindle the magic with the first-ever IPL franchise in the 2025 season.
Liam Livingstone
Liam Livingstone, the England international, who is 31 years of age, is in the prime of his career, and RCB have signed him to play the all-rounder role to its fullest, which will help them balance their playing XI perfectly. The Englishman has five seasons of IPL experience, starting with two forgettable years at RR, followed by better performances with PBKS, which he will like to improve upon in the IPL 2025.
Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar, 31, has been one of the best batters after Virat Kohli in the RCB setup, and he was rewarded with the role of captaincy ahead of the IPL 2025 season. The right-handed batter led Madhya Pradesh to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) final recently, not only with his captaincy, but also with his exceptional consistency with the bat, and he will look to keep the momentum going in the IPL 2025 season at RCB.
