AC Milan and Italy full-back  Alessandro Florenzi is the latest Italian player placed under investigation for illegal betting. Florenzi and many other Italian footballers are under the scanner of Turin prosecutors looking into players using illegal websites to bet on games. The development was reported in the Italian media on Wednesday.

Over the recent past, Juventus' Nicolo Fagioli and Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United were handed bans of seven months and ten months,  respectively, by the Italian football federation. Coming back to  Florenzi, the Milan right-back will reportedly meet with the Italian prosecutor to discuss the case. 

Like Florenzi, Aston Villa youngster Nicolò Zaniolo is also under investigation but has denied betting on games. Unlike Zaniolo,  Florenzi hasn't yet commented on the issue. But the 32-year-old could be called in for questioning over the coming days as per the LaPresse news agency.

Alessandro Florenzi has been a valuable member of AC Milan and has started five Serie A games this season while making five appearances off the bench. Talking about the future, Florenzi has a contract until 2025 while being a seasoned Italy international, with 49 caps.
