The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have now suffered their fourth loss in a row in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 as Delhi Capitals defeated them by 9 wickets in match number 14 of the season. RCB started their season with two back-to-back wins but now have completely lost their momentum as they haven’t been able to get a single win in the last four matches.
Ellyse Perry top scored with 60*(47) runs as RCB posted 147 for 5 in their 20 overs. In reply, Jess Jonassen and Shafali Varma scored respective fifties as DC chased the winning target in 15.3 pvers. Coming to bat after losing the toss, RCB lost their first wicket at the score of 9 runs in 1.5 overs as skipper Smriti Mandhana got out after scoring just eight runs. After that, Perry joined Danni Wyatt-Hodge at the crease as the pair added 44 runs for the second wicket. Hodge got out after scoring 21(18) runs two fours and a six.
Ellyse Perry scores another fifty in losing cause
After Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s dismissal, Ellyse Perry added 66 runs along with Raghvi Bist for the third wicket. Bist got out after scoring 33(32) runs hitting two sixes, while Perry ended up scoring 60 runs off 47 balls hitting three fours and as many sixes. However, it turned out to be Perry’s another fifty for RCB in the losing cause in WPL 2025. For DC, Shikha Pandey and Nallapureddy Charani scalped two wickets each while Marizanne Kapp put one in his bag.
Chasing the winning target, DC also got an early shock as skipper Meg Lanning got out at the score of five runs in 2.4 overs. After that Jess Jonassen and Shafali Verma took charge of the innings as the duo put an unbeaten partnership of 146 runs as DC chased the target in 15.2 overs. Shafali top scored with 80*(43) runs while Jonassen scored 61*(38) runs.
