The Chief Executive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Naseeb Khan, spoke about how the involvement of Rashid Khan in the domestic T20 tournament highlights the “improvements in security and current peace” in the country. With that, Naseeb Khan is hopeful about Afghanistan hosting international cricket in their own backyard in the near future.

Notably, Rashid Khan scored the fastest fifty in the Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL) match in Afghanistan, putting together an innings of 53 runs in just 23 balls with three fours and six maximums. But despite his batting blitz, Speen Ghar Tigers lost to Amo Sharks by 25 runs via DLS at the Kabul International Stadium.

In his interview with Cricbuzz, Naseeb Khan stated that Rashid Khan playing in domestic T20 tournaments is an indication of positive security changes in the country. He said, “Rashid Khan's participation in domestic cricket reflects several positive changes in Afghanistan. Rashid Khan's involvement in domestic cricket highlights improvements in security and current peace in Afghanistan.”

Naseeb Khan also pointed out how ACB hosted a few domestic tournaments successfully in the recent past, and said, “Before the Shpageeza Cricket League, we organized the List A event in Kunduz province, far from Kabul, with the participation of about 20 national players.”

“Successfully hosting the list A and Shpageeza events in a peaceful environment also serves as an invitation for other countries' cricket teams to visit and play in Afghanistan,” he added.
