Pakistan suffered a historic white-wash in a home Test series against England on December 20, 2022. England showed a dominant performance in a three-match Test series and registered convincing wins in the first two matches in Rawalpindi and Multan to take an unassailable lead of 2-0. Having already lost the series, Pakistan were now looking to avoid a whitewash at home for the first time. However, England continued their form and registered a historic series win by 3-0. 

The third and the final Test of the series was played at National Stadium in Karachi starting on December 17. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted 304 in their first innings with Babar Azam playing a captain’s knock of 78(123) runs with nine boundaries. Apart from that, Salman Ali Agha also contributed with 56(93) runs hitting six fours. For England, Jack Leach scalped four wickerts.. Apart from that, Rehan Ahmed took two, while Mark Wood, Joe Root and Olllie Robinson scalped a wicket each.

Harry Brook’s hundred guided England to famous Test series whitewash

In reply to Pakistan’s 304, England were bowled out for 354 runs taking a lead of 50 runs in the first innings. Harry Brook shone with a knock of 111(150) runs with the help of eight fours and three sixes. Ben Foakes also contributed with 64(121) runs. For Pakistan, Noman Ali and Abrar Ahmed scalped four wickets each while Mohammad Wasim Jr. put one his bag.

In the second innings, Pakistan were bowled out for 216 runs, giving England a target of 167 runs to win. In reply, Rehan Ahmed took a five-wicket haul. In reply, Ben Duckett top scored with 82*(78) runs as England chased the target during the first session of day four. With this, Pakistan were handed a whitewash in a  home Test series of three or more matches for the first time.
