India had a disastrous start in the ongoing first Test against New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Opting to bat first, the hosts lost 8 wickets at the score of just 39 runs on day Two of the first Test. Key players from the Indian batting line up including Virat Kohli , Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin went out for a duck as India are on a backfoot against New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 

After Day one of the first Test washed out due to rain and wet outfield, the toss took place on day 2. After winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. However, India couldn’t get a good start as Rohit got out after scoring 2(16) runs. After that, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan also went back after without scoring a single run. India were reduced to 10/3 after 9.4 overs.

After the fall of three wickets, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant tried to take the innings forward but couldn’t make a big partnership as Jaiswal (13 off 63) at the score of 31 runs. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also got out after registering consecutive ducks. After a few overs, India’s last hope Rishabh Pant also got out after scoring 20(49). 

At last, India were bowled out for just 46 runs in 31.2 overs. For New Zealand, fast bowlers Will O’Rourke and Matt Henry shone on Day 2 taking 4 wickets each.
