Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu will represent the Mumbai Indians-affiliate MI Emirates in the International League T20. Rayudu played for the Mumbai-based franchise in the Indian Premier League between 2010-2017 and was crucial in three title-winning seasons. Talking about MI Emirates, Mumbai Indians announced Nicholas Pooran as captain for the 2024 ILT20 season.

Coming back to Rayudu, the Hyderabad native took to X (formerly Twitter) to share this development. Ambati Rayudu posted that he will join the Mumbai Indians franchise in the ILT20. He also spoke about relinquishing his political commitments to participate in the tournament.
In his tweet, the former India international said, "I Ambati Rayudu will be representing the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming ILt20 from jan 20th in Dubai. Which requires me to be politically non-affiliated whilst playing professional sport."
This development further clarifies Ambati Rayudu's exit from the YSRCP Party just ten days after joining. Conveying this message, Rayudu posted, " This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time. Thank You."
Kieron Pollard to captain MI Cape Town: Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians, in a press release, confirmed that West Indian veteran Kieron Pollard will lead the MI Cape Town franchise in the South Africa T20 replacing Rashid Khan, who is recovering from an injury. The statement said, "Rashid Khan is unavailable currently, as he continues his recovery from injury. MI CT wish Rashid a quick recovery and look to have him back on the playing field soon."
