Former Wimbledon champion and three-time Grand Slam winner, Andy Murray’s final appearance in Wimbledon mixed doubles came to an abrupt end with his partner Emma Raducanu, pulling out of the event. The sudden decision from the Brit youngster, Emma comes after he complained of stiffness in her right hand, unfortunately denying the former champion one last appearance at the All England Club. 

Murray, who earlier withdrew from the men’s singles event and later crashed out of the men’s doubles alongside his brother Jamie Murray on Thursday. The Briton pair were set to face Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo in the fourth match on Court 1, but Raducanu withdrew just hours before the match. “Unfortunately I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist, so therefore I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight,” Emma Raducanu said in a statement. 

“I’m disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but got to take care,” she added. Murray, who was denied a final Wimbledon swansong, was reportedly left disappointed.

Apart from Judy Murray’s reaction, princess of Wales, Kate Middleton expressed her heartfelt support for the two-time Wimbledon champion. “An incredible #Wimbledon career comes to an end. You should be so very proud @andy_murray. On behalf of all of us, thank you! C,” Kate wrote.

Murray clinched the Wimbledon title in the years 2013 and 2016. In 2013, he became the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years, beating Novak Djokovic in the final.
