Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah got praised for his gesture of refraining from taking DRS against New Zealand. The hosts for the 2023 season of the marquee ICC event, India, locked horns with 2015 and 2019 finalists New Zealand in the 21st clash of the competition, on October 22, Sunday at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited rival stand-in captain Tom Latham and side to bat first.

In the fifth over, Bumrah conceded just one run from two balls, before delivering a length ball angling in from around the world. The ball, after getting thudded off, went towards the leg side, after which India appealed for an LBW. The fielders and skipper Rohit Sharma gathered for a brief discussion, while the bowler signalled that the ball was missing the stumps before resuming bowling.

However, Sharma went on to take the review, and unfortunately the team ended up losing it. Meanwhile, Twitter went on to appraise the pacer for his decision to abstain from taking the review.

India lost three wickets by the end of 31 overs, while the scoreboard read 174.
