On Sunday, November 24, Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain, brought up his 30th Test hundred versus Australia in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test match at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Shortly after registering yet another milestone moment in his international career, Virat Kohli was quite emotional while speaking about his wife Anushka Sharma in an interview, stating that her presence made his 81st hundred for India feel “even more special.”

Notably, in the second session on day two of the first BGT Test match, Virat Kohli arrived at the crease when India were in a strong position at 275/2 with the centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal still at the crease, controlling the team’s innings. The 36-year-old started his innings in a measured way before he found a way to keep the scorecard moving with regular strike rotation, coupled with occasional boundaries here and there.

Anushka has been by my side through thick and thin: Virat Kohli

After India lost a few quick wickets as Australia utilised the second new ball well, Virat Kohli stitched together a couple of crucial partnerships with Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy, to help India reach 487/6 total before captain Jasprit Bumrah declared the innings. Virat Kohli’s boundary off Marnus Labuschagne in the 135th over helped the former Indian captain reach the three-figure score, which signalled the end of the Indian innings.

While speaking to Adam Gilchrist on Fox Cricket at the Optus Stadium in Perth after scoring his 30th Test hundred, Virat Kohli explained how much his wife Anushka Sharma means to him, while appreciating her presence in his life. He was quoted as saying, as per the Times of India, “Anushka has been by my side through thick and thin, so she knows everything that goes on behind the scene when I'm in the room.”

“What goes on in the head when you don't play as well or when you make a few mistakes. I just want to contribute to the team's scores and not just hang around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for my country. It feels amazing and the fact that she's here, makes it even more special,” Virat Kohli further added.
