In one of the biggest transfer news in this season, it was confirmed a few weeks ago by top reputed journalists that Liverpool’s home-grown right-back Trent Alexander Arnold was set to leave the club at the end of the season and move to Real Madrid. With his contract expiring in June 2025, there haven’t been any talks of an extension yet and hence it paves the path for a free transfer of Trent to Madrid. However, while speaking to press ahead of Liverpool’s game against Everton, manager Arne Slot has not confirmed nor denied anything regarding Trent’s transfer at the end of the season.

When asked by a reporter about the potential Madrid move, Arne Slot replied, “Real Madrid? We’re never been focused on outside talks”, leaving the whole saga at a very split scenario. It is important to note that none of the two clubs involved, Liverpool or Real Madrid, have yet made any official statements about the transfer. Even Trent has not spoken out publicly about this transfer move. So it will be interesting to see what actually happens at the end of the current season.

Liverpool face shortage of right-backs in upcoming match against Everton

Talking about the upcoming match, Liverpool face an injury woe in the right-back while going into the Merseyside derby against Everton. Trent, who picked up an injury during Liverpool’s UCL fixture against PSG, has been out and did not feature in the latest international matches with the English national team as well. On the other hand, their second-choice right-back Conor Bradley is also out injured.

This means that Slot will have to field some other player to fill up that right-back position for Liverpool in the upcoming game. A positive piece of news is that goalkeeper Alison Becker is back into the squad after suffering a head concussion injury scare and flying back to Liverpool in the middle of the international break schedule due to precautionary measures.
