I ndia’s top batters Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer missed the team’s optional practice session ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s clash against Pakistan. The Men in Blue haven’t seemed in the best of form in the continental tournament with a rain-affected opener against Pakistan and a win against Nepal.

Ahead of the Asia Cup, the Indian team received big reinforcements with the return of Iyer, KL Rahul and Jasprith Bumrah. But only Iyer has received game-time among the three. With the ODI World Cup just days around, Team India would hope to play these returning stars in the coming games in the Asia Cup and the Australia series.
Further talking about the optional Team India net session, wicketkeeper-batters Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul were seen in the nets with opener Shubhman Gill as per journalist G. S. Vivek. Kishan was crucial in Team India’s fixture against Pakistan as he scored a pivotal 82 and stitched a partnership with Hardik Pandya to rescue the Men in Blue after a poor start.

Coming back to KL Rahul and Jasprith Bumrah, both players rejoined the Indian camp in the last few days. Bumrah returned to Sri Lanka after the birth of his son on September 8. While Rahul, who suffered a niggle at NCA, travelled to Sri Lanka on September 5 and since has looked good form in practice. The Karnataka star also had a long wicketkeeping session in a night practice session at the R Premadasa Stadium on September 8.
