India’s reliable middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer rejoined the team's training session ahead of the clash against Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2023. Iyer had to sit out of the playing squad during the previous Super Fours encounters of the team due to back spasms. The Men in Blue are set to lock horns with Bangladesh in the last encounter of the Super Fours stage in the continental tournament on September 15, Friday.
The 28-year-old cricketer was out of action for a long time due to a back injury and made his comeback to the squad with the marquee ACC event. Earlier during the game against Pakistan in the group stage, Iyer pulled a score of 14 runs. However, the batter was sidelined in the next clashes due to the recurrence of pain in his back.
Many cricket analysts shared pictures of Shreyas Iyer batting in nets ahead of their final Super 4s clash against Bangladesh on Friday, September 15.
Meanwhile, as per the latest developments, the Mumbai-born cricketer participated in an optional practice session, where he engaged in light batting practice. It goes without saying that Iyer has over time emerged as an efficient number 4 batter. During his absence from the squad in the ongoing tournament, KL Rahul stepped in and played brilliant knocks.
Speaking of the tournament, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India secured their spot in the top two of the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. In the summit clash of the competition, which is slated to take place on September 17, the seven-time title winners will lock horns with the winners of the Sri Lanka versus Pakistan Super Fours match.
