India’s athletics contingent continued their dream run after Kiran Baliyan clinched the first medal at the ongoing Asian Games in athletics. On Saturday, 30 September, Karthik Kumar sealed the silver while compatriot Gulveer Singh settled for a bronze in 10,000m.

While Kumar finished second with his personal best timing of 28:15.38, Gulveer also recorded his personal best, clocking 28:17.21. Bahrain’ Birhanu Yemataw Balew clinched the gold, setting a timing of 28:13.62.
India has so far secured 38 medals under their cap, which includes 10 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze. Earlier, Kiran Baliyan clinched a bronze, first in athletics for India in Asian Games 2023, registering her best throw of 17.36m.
