Team India played their first match at the Asian Games 2023 in the Men's Cricket event against Nepal in the quarterfinal on Tuesday morning. Despite being the favorites, the Men in Blue struggled to win the game against Nepal with ease as the latter fought till the end and displayed a tremendous performance.

After registering a huge total of 202 runs in 20 overs in the quarterfinal of the Men's Cricket event, India defeated Nepal at the Asian Games 2023 by 23 runs. India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a 48-ball-100 while Rinku Singh's (37 off 15) death over heroics helped India reach a target of 203 runs.

Nepal showed tremendous resistance as they fought till the end, however, fell 23 runs short to beat India. Dipendra Singh Airee was the leading scorer for Nepal with his 15-ball-32 run inning followed by Sundeep Jora (29 off 12) and Kushal Malla (29 off 22).

Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan were the most successful bowlers for Team India as both picked three wickets. Bishnoi finished his four-over spell with three wickets and gave away just 24 runs while Avesh Lhan also dismissed three players but went for 32 runs.

With this victory, Team India reached the semi-final stage in the Men's Cricket category at the Hangzhou Games 2023. On the other hand, Pakistan will face Hong Kong, Sri Lanka are scheduled to square off against Afghanistan, and Bangladesh will take on Malaysia in other quarter-final matches.
