The trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh and Ashi Chouksey opened India’s medal tally at the Asian Games on the second day of the quadrennial event. The Indian trio sealed the silver medal in the women’s 10m air rifle on Sunday, 24th September 2023.

The India trio of Ramita, Mehuli and Ashi scored 1886 to finish second in the medal tally. While Ramita scored 631.9, Mehuli finished with the score of 630.8 and Ashi scoring 623.3. China finished at the top with 1896.6 while Mongolia took the bronze in 10m air rifle with 1880 points.  Huang Yuting won gold with a Games record score of 252.7 while reigning world champion Han Jiayu took the silver.

 

Additionally, Ramita Jindal became India’s latest teenage shooter to shine for India, winning bronze in women’s 10m air rifle on Sunday, 24th September. The 2022 world junior champion, who was making her debut at the multi-sport event, finished behind two shooters with a score of 230.1. The 19-year-old outgunned her compatriot Mehuli Ghosh, who finished fourth.
