India's Tajinderpal Singh Toor clinched the gold medal in the Men's Shot Put event at the Asian Games 2023. Competing at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, Toor registered throws of 19.51 m (3rd attempt), 20.06 m (4th attempt) and 20.36 m (6th attempt) to seal the first spot.

With this win, Tajinderpal Singh Toor successfully defended his Asiad title. Notably, Toor created the Asian Games record with a throw of 20.75 m in the previous edition of the event in Jakarta, in 2018. Finishing second, Mohamed Daouda A Tolo took the silver while China's Yang Liu took home the bronze medal.
India's other competitor in the event, Sahib Singh finished eighth with throws of 17.78 m, 17.79m, 17.90m, 18.18m, false throw and 18.62m. This also was the second athletics gold medal for India as Avinash Mukund Sable clinched the gold by registering a Games Record time of 8:19.50.
