Asian Para Games 2023, is the fourth edition of the multi-sporting continental event, organised by Asian Paralympic Committee, scheduled from October 22 to 28 in Hangzhou, China, for the athletes with disabilities. These games, recognised by the International Paralympic Committee, run parallel to the Asian Games 2023, in the same city, and they are described as the second largest event of its kind after the Paralympic Games.
Notably, the Asian Para Games were scheduled to be held from October 9 to 15, in 2022, but it was postponed in a decision taken by the Asian Paralympic Committee in collaboration with the Chinese authorities. The call to delay the games was finalised on May 17 last year, due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in China.
The first edition of the Asian Para Games was held in 2010, in Guangzhou, China, and since then, it has travelled to the cities of Incheon, South Korea, in 2014, before making its way to Jakarta-Palembang, in 2018. In the history of these games, there have been 44 participating countries, including the likes of China, India, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, and Pakistan, among others.
