T20 Stars, the cricket gear business founded by Shane Watson, is closing its doors after only two years in business. In 2021, Watson introduced a line of gear using a novel direct-to-consumer web model in an effort to lower the cost of cricket equipment for consumers, but that effort has come to a stop as the legendary Australian cricketer looks to other prospects.

Aaron Finch, a former Australian captain, and Marcus Stoinis, a player for the Melbourne Stars, were both signed by Watson to the San Francisco Unicorns, an American Major League Cricket team, where he is the head coach. This might be one of the reasons why he is finding insufficient time to tend to the business.

Watson said the operation, a joint venture with his wife Lee Furlong, will be closing down in an exclusive interview with news.com.au. This unilateral decision was reached without the involvement of any outside administrators. Watson confirmed that the company was "winding down". And that it was wholly and solely his and his wife’s choice to wind down T20 Stars, he added further.

Although the website is still active, all products are marked as "sold out," and any remaining inventory is being liquidated. Although revenues were steady during the business's run, Watson said that his time was becoming increasingly limited. After retiring from the sport in 2016 after a successful ten-year career, Watson founded the brand. After leaving the support crew of the IPL team Delhi Capitals, he recently made headlines.

The 42-year-old had a glorious 14-year-long career for Australia, where he won three ICC ODI World Cups (2003,2007, 2015), and two Champions Trophy titles where he was adjudged as player of the match in both the finals. (2006, 2009). He had a fabulous IPL career too, winning two MVP awards, and two IPL titles. He was also the man of the match in the historic 2018 IPL final in which he scored an unbeaten century to win CSK their third title. He played a fighting knock with an injured knee in the 2019 final too but ended on the losing side by a bare margin of a run. He announced his retirement in 2020.
