India’s star steeplechaser, Avinash Sable continued to struggle with his form as he had a yet another disappointing outing at the Silesia Diamond League 2024. The Indian athlete, who had put up a decent performance during the qualification round at the 2024 Paris Olympics, finished 11th in the final, clocking 8:14.18 at the Stade de France earlier this month.
However, at the recently concluded Silesia Diamond League 2024, the Asian Games champion finished 14th with a timing of 8:29.96 seconds as he struggled throughout the race. Moreover, it was Sable’s second slowest timing in the 2024 season.
After his 14th place finish at the Silesia event, the 29-year-old is now sitting at 14th place in the Diamond League standings with only three points to his name. Sable will aim to improve his timing in order to qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final as only the top six athletes are eligible for the finale.
Moreover, Olympic champion, Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco finished first with a season best timing of 8:04.29 seconds, whereas Amos Serem on Kenya came second with a timing of 8:04.29, finishing just three hundredth thousand seconds behind Bakalli. Samuel Firewu secured the third place, clocking 8:04.34 seconds.
