On Saturday, December 21, Karnataka entered their name in record books as Krishnan Shrijith came up with a remarkable knock of 150* in 101 balls. Owing to this powerful knock, Karnataka chased down a record-breaking 383 runs with 22 balls to spare in the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Mumbai. Not only this, but with this, Karnataka completed the fifth highest successful run chase in List A cricket history. 

The side achieved the feat at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground B in Ahmedabad. The game saw Krishnana Shrijith emerging star for Karnataka as he scored 150* off just 101 deliveries. During his innings, Shrijith hit 20 fours and four maximums, facing 101 balls. His knock was followed by KV Aneesh and Praveen Dubey, who slammed 82 runs and 65*, respectively. Shrijith built a 94-run partnership with Avneesh, and later a 183-run stand with Dubey. Karnataka skipper Mayank Agarwal came in with 47 runs. 

Karnataka record second-highest successful run chase

Mumbai bowler Shardul Thakur conceded 72 runs from his six overs, whereas, Juned Khan managed to record figures of 2/70. The game saw Karnataka post the second-highest successful run chase in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with Andhra Pradesh holding the record for the highest chase with 384 runs against Goa in the 2011-12 season. 

Overall, South Africa hold the record for the highest successful chase in List A cricket. They scored 435 runs against Australia in Johannesburg in 2005. During the match, Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer also registered a monumental knock and recorded his 13th List A ton, as he smashed 114* runs from just 55 balls including five boundaries and 10 towering maximums.
