On Saturday, April 5, the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their third consecutive defeat in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Yellow Army fell short by 25 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to drop down at the eighth place in the points table, along with handing DC their first win at Chepauk in 15 years.
What grabbed the attention during the crucial match was the presence of star wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni’s family. While MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Singh and daughter Ziva have been a regular in matches for CSK as well as India, it was the first instance when his parents were seen in the stands.
Stephen Fleming quashes MS Dhoni’s retirement rumours after CSK’s 25-run defeat
Soon after the camera panned out at MS Dhoni’s parents, fans flooded social media with several claiming it to be last for MS Dhoni. However, in another video making waves on social media, MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi could also been saying “last” to her daughter Ziva. With the speculations hitting the roof, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was also asked of the same.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Fleming quickly shut down the rumours as he said, “I have no idea.” “I’m just enjoying working with him still. He’s still going strong. I don’t even ask these days,” Fleming added.
The 43-year-old stitched an unbeaten sixth-wicket partnership of 84 runs with Vijay Shankar. While he played a 26-ball 30*, Shankar went onto to play an unbetaen 69 off 54 balls, but this effort did not prove enough as the hosts faced a crushing defeat.
