During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, fans witnessed the brilliant bonding between the Yellow Army’s veterans MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. Batting first after winning the toss, DC lost Jake Fraser-McGurk on the fifth delivery of the match but KL Rahul ensured a decent start for the visitors as the 32-year-old stitched crucial partnerships with Abishek Porel and Axar Patel. Rahul stood in the middle until the last over and took DC to a competitive score of 183/6 in 20 overs. Rahul concluded his innings after scoring 77 runs off 51 balls.

During the first innings, Jadeja colluded with Dhoni to send Ashutosh Sharma back to the pavilion. In the past, it’s witnessed how Jadeja as a bowler traps batters with the help of Dhoni’s wicket-keeping prowess. However, this time, Jadeja donned the role of fielder to assist his senior colleague to perform the dismissal. In the final over of the innings, Ashutosh joined Tristan Stubbs at the crease after Rahul’s departure. The 26-year-old, who was on strike, strove to steal a couple of runs through the square-leg area but couldn’t complete the second run as Jadeja displayed alacrity and threw the ball towards Dhoni. The 43-year-old collected the ball with agility and dislodged the bails to end Ashutosh’s innings.

CSK in trouble while pursuing the massive target

Chasing 184 runs, CSK are in a frail situation in the ongoing match. Key batters such as Rachin Ravindra, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway and Shivam Dube looked completely out of rhythm and walked back to the dugout with their ineffective knocks. Delhi pacers Mitchell Starc and Mukesh Kumar looked disciplined in the first powerplay and created pressure on the hosts.

Mukesh got rid of Ravindra in the second over and delivered the first breakthrough to the Capitals. Supporting him, Starc also removed Gaikwad in the next over. Leg-break bowler Vipraj Nigam has also chipped in with a couple of scalps, picking up Conway and Dube. As of writing, CSK are 110/5 in 15.5 overs with Vijay Shankar (unbeaten 47 off 40) and Dhoni (unbeaten 10 off 14) at the crease.
