Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday, November 10 announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series against West Indies. In a surprising move, while Najmul Hossain Shanto has agreed to lead the side in the two-match Test series, starting from November 22, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of the series with an injury.
It is to be noted that Mushfiqur Rahim sustained a fracture in his left index finger and was ruled out of the remaining ODIs against Afghanistan in the UAE. Furthermore, the side will see the return of Jaker Ali, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam after they have recovered from their respective injuries, whereas Shakib Al Hasan continues to sit out, suggesting that his Test career is all but over.
Mustafizur Rahman unlikely for West Indies tour
According to reports stating Cricbuzz, Mustafizur Rahman will miss Bangladesh’s tour of West Indies as he has applied for a leave with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be with his wife, who is expecting a child. Seeing this, Rahman is likely to miss the white-ball series, which is set to kickoff following the two-match Test series in West Indies.
“It’s true that he (Mustafizur) asked for leave (during the white-ball series against West Indies) but we are yet to take a decision as there is still time in our hand. Let him come and we can talk over the matter and see whether he can be available for one format (ODIs, T20Is) or not,” a BCB official said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
